Feel the Power of the Bubbles

Does anyone else hate cleaning the shower as much as I do? I think it is one of the nastiest chores on the list of things to clean in the house.

Introducing my latest investment. The Scrubbing Bubbles automatic shower cleaner. I had one of these a few years ago, but it stopped working. My thoughts are that it ceased up from being in a box and not being used.

The new model comes basically assembled, you just have to attach the hanging bracket. Once you manage to find 4 AA batteries for it (which aren’t included), you can simply hang it from the shower head and let it start cleaning. The instructions recommend starting with a clean shower, but not required as they claim cleaner will eventually get your shower nice and clean over time with continuous use.

After the last person showers, you press one of the two cleaning buttons (either + or ++ for more cleaning power) and it will give you about 10 seconds to leave the shower before spraying the whole thing with the cleaning solution. They say each bottle will last up to 30 days, but the refill bottles are relatively inexpensive (around $5).

The only two disadvantages that I have with it are that I keep bumping into it when standing under the shower because the pressure isn’t that great from the shower head, and that it only sprays the chemicals about 18 inches below the shower head so you will still have to clean the top portion of your glass shower doors. I was thinking about putting a screw into the wall above the shower head to hang the machine higher and slightly off to the side to solve both of these problems.

Have you used the Scrubbing Bubbles automatic shower cleaner? Did it work as promised for you?

Getting the Car Ready for Winter

IMG_2895.JPG

I have been putting it off for far too long, so long in fact that I actually smashed my car into a curb. I thought that I just knocked the alignment out, but it turns out that I scratched my tire rim pretty badly and bent the steering arm for my front axle.

Needless to say, I finally made the long trek out to my parents farm and put winter tires on my car. I always feel like it is a way bigger task than what it actually turns out to be. I figured that I would need at least four hours to change my tires over, but apparently it only took an hour.

Now, you might be wondering to yourself why I would expend so much effort on changing my tires every season. If you have never had winter tires, you may not understand how much better they work in cold weather, in snow, and on ice. However, the difference in driving is very black and white.

Winter tires are manufactured with softer rubber which provides better traction at colder temperatures. They also typically have a much deeper tread depth in order to maintain control through the snow. Also, your tires will last longer as you will only be using them half the year.

This year, Manitoba Public Insurance has offered the opportunity to finance your winter tires. They are offering financing for up to $2,000 to eligible Manitoban’s to purchase tires, rims, tire pressure monitoring systems and much more. If you have already purchased your tires, you may still be eligible to apply for reimbursement through the Winter Tire Loan Program. For full details, click here.

Drive safe this winter.

Have we already forgotten?

While enjoying my relaxing morning, the sounds of Christmas advertising invaded my home. Don’t get me wrong, I am the biggest fan of Christmas and I am dying to put up the decorations.

However, the beginning of November is not a time for retailers, in this case Leon’s , to be striving to beat their competitors and advertising their Christmas bargains. This is a time for us all to honour the gift of freedom we have been given by our troops.

We have so many reasons to thank the men and women before us that served our country and sacrificed to make Canada what it is today. The act of remembrance isn’t something that we should do only on November 11th, but every time you see our flag waving.

So my thoughts to the marketing team at Leon’s, I strongly recommend that you show some respect and ho-ho-hold your self-serving commercials while the rest of us pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our military.
