Pop into Spring with a Spring Pop Up Shop

Oh my goodness, it is officially spring!  I am only about a week late on my realization that winter has left and we are into a wonderful new exciting season. I wasn’t planning on writing a new blog until April 1, but I found out that one of my friends is going to be hosting an event that I have to share with you.

Tomorrow, my friend David from The Sweet Pear is going to be sharing his goodies with the world by selling his baked goods at the one day Spring Pop Up Sale at 539 St. Mary’s Rd in Winnipeg. He has promised brownies, cookies and French Macaroons. I’m really excited to get myself some fresh delicious treats. Don’t worry, I am an only child and won’t feel the least bit guilty about not sharing them with you.

In addition to baked goods, you will find fashion stylings from Style My Dreams by Jackie Asava-Anderson and Greenwood Naturals natural beauty & home products. Come down between 10:00am until 3:00pm. I am really excited to see everyone down there and supporting these three wonderful businesses.

Gone Missing Again?

I feel like it may be a tad bit presumptuous of me to think that you have missed me, but I sure hope that you have noticed that I haven’t posted anything. Perhaps you thought that I fell off the blogging band wagon, but that wasn’t the case at all. In fact, this blogging hiatus has been completely intentional, but not at all planned.

The truth is that I have recently suffered an injury and have been focused on my recovery. I am slowly starting to heal, but still have a distance to go until I will hopefully be pain free. Thankfully, I have been able to return to work on reduced hours.

I figured that I should take a moment to check in with you all and say hello. I look forward to being able to find some more adventures in the future to share with you. Unfortunately, the road to recovering my health has been rather un-shareworthy. Hopefully I will find myself fixed up very soon. So far the healing process has begun, but I’m still hurting and not enjoying the ability to do activities that I enjoyed prior to my injury. Stay tuned!

Well that’s the end of that

This morning a sad thing happened. As I was driving home after my morning shift at work, I watched my odometer slowly climbing. As I was just about to pull into the driveway, I watched as the numbers rolled over to exactly 60,000KM.

With the changing of one digit, the odometer display brought with it the ending of the warranty on my car. I am now entirely responsible for the cost of all maintenance on my vehicle.

Luckily, I believe that all the issues that I had with my transmission have been resolved and the car has been running great so far. I hope that is a sign that it will continue to be reliable for a few more years without requiring anything more than regular routine maintenance.

My biggest fear is that now that it has reached 60,000KM and the warranty has expired, all the major problems are going to start to appear. I am perhaps just being paranoid, but my last car started to act up as soon as the warranty ended. I am lucky that my father is able to help me out by doing the majority of the repairs on the farm.

Have you had issues with a vehicle as soon as your warranty ended?

Crossing a Milestone is cause for Celebration

Hurray, we made it to the weekend! Well at least you did, I am currently in the middle of a 7 day stretch at work. However, I get to enjoy Tuesday and Wednesday off so I am quite looking forward to that.

I am excited to announce that today, with this blog post I am celebrating several milestones.
The first one being this is my 100th blog post. It is exciting to be able to say that I have sat down and written 100 different pieces of work. Some of them I am quite proud about, others I have thought about going over and rewriting them to make them more interesting or better reads. Perhaps that is something that I will look at for a future post.

The second achievement is that I have posted a blog everyday for the past 7 days (today being blog number 8 in a row). As I have mentioned in some of my past blogs, I have been struggling to keep focused and dedicated to writing and posting regularly. I am looking forward to this trend continuing for the rest of 2015.

The third achievement is that yesterday I have passed over 3,500 views on my blog. I am overwhelmingly flattered by how many people have taken time out of their day to read my thoughts on different random things. The number of views has been increasing much more rapidly now that I am posting regularly which is awesome encouragement to keep posting. So to all of you that stop by to check out my writing, thank you for your support and I always enjoy reading comments and feedback.

I hope you all are enjoying the great weather and keeping dry because there is a lot of mud on the streets.

Happy Anniversary to Me!

Yesterday, WordPress informed me that my blog celebrated its first birthday!  I am a little disappointed that I didn’t remember that it was coming or planning a party, but alas one year of blogging has come and gone.

The last year has been filled with many changes and most of those I didn’t see coming.  I am lucky to be sharing a life and home with Mike in Calgary, I am glad to have accomplished my goal of returning to work for one of the two major airlines in Canada, I am happy to be driving bus again and seeing things that I wouldn’t have if not for this hobby made into a job, but most importantly I am blessed with amazing friends that I am able to share my story with.

I will admit that I had hopped that I would have been more dedicated to writing, but life got in the way and it is impossible to change the past.  Writing is one of my favourite creative outlets as it allows me the opportunity to organize my thoughts, share my experiences, and hopefully benefit you as the readers in one way or another.

Over the next year my blogging goals include to share more travel stories with you as Mike and I, along with friends, travel around the world and hopefully make some amazing memories together.  I would also like to be more dedicated to writing as I love sharing my thoughts, ideas, and experiences with you.  Lastly, I would like to make time to create video memories along with the written ones to share with you.

Flying into the Future

Today has been quite an emotion filled day as I said goodbye to my coworkers who have become friends. This was my final day of employment with Canadian North.

It was difficult to end 13 months of employment with an amazing company with such awesome employees. Walking up the stairs for the last time this morning brought me into a reality I wasn’t prepared to deal with at 5am.

This weekend now holds a new adventure as I start training to be a coach bus operator. I’m very excited to be back behind the wheel.

Sunday is moving day into our new apartment. I am also looking forward to celebrating my first Pride in Calgary. Brian is flying in tomorrow from Vancouver for the celebration. I can’t wait to see him.

Shannon is also driving out from Winnipeg for her road trip to the Rockies. I am glad that I have been included in her travel plans!

Tuesday is the beginning of my new adventure with a new airline. I have to make it through 6 weeks of classroom before I get back to flight planning.

Mike has successfully completed his flight attendant training and will be leaving me for the weekend. He has been assigned to walk to Mexico and back twice this weekend.

Hope everyone has an amazing long weekend. Stay safe and HAPPY PRIDE!

Where has the time gone?

My goodness life has become busy and chaotic for me. It has been so long since I have time to sit down and write that I am actually not sure where to begin with the changes in my life.

I guess I shall start with the fact that it is no longer just me sleeping in my bed. Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of moving my boyfriend Mike to Calgary from Winnipeg. We had a lovely party with our friends on Thursday evening. Thank you so much to Kim for opening her home, yard, and pool for us all to share a wonderful evening together before I stole Mike away from the city.20130812-203837.jpg

Thankfully, two weeks after I posted the ad, we were able to sign the lease on his condo and rent it to a lovely young couple that have “a fat old cat.” They will be moving in October 1 which gives us the time to finish the renovations that have been going on for far too many months. It is all beginning to take shape and actually looks like the home that we both dreamed that it would have become for us to share. However, we are now sharing a new adventure in the west and hopefully the new tenants will enjoy as many memories as we have enjoyed there together.20130812-203917.jpg

We took last Friday to finish up some random projects before heading over to Club 200 for happy hour with the gurls. I haven’t had the chance to attend as many Friday afternoon beverages with them as Mike has, but none the less it was wonderful to see everyone before hitting the highway.

Saturday morning the alarm clock woke us at 6:00 am to pack the car prior to meeting Mike’s parents and grandmother for breakfast. I was shocked at how few tears actually were shed by everyone.  I would have put money on it being quite a tear jerking “goodbye for now.” One of the perks of working in aviation is that we can travel back to Winnipeg as often as we like.  We then made a quick stop at Safeway to get road snacks for Mike and KUB rye bread for my friend Jeff (Winnipegers and their food) which, to my pleasant surprise, was on sale.

It never ceases to amaze me at how long of a drive it is across the prairies, but it was much more enjoyable with a driving buddy as we were able to trade off, nap, talk, and point out various attractions to each other. Mike and I are complete opposites though when it comes to the preferred portion of the drive. I much prefer the portion between Winnipeg and Regina as it is shorter and I think there is much more to see as there are small towns and more farms. Mike, on the other hand, prefers the portion of Regina to Calgary as he enjoys the beauty of the rolling hills.

Mike also completed the first day of flight attendant training today. I am very excited for him as he starts his new adventure ironically the same day that I started my adventure in Calgary 365 days ago. I can’t wait to see where this new opportunity takes him, but I am pretty sure the sky is the limit.

Oddly enough, on his first day of work is the same day that I have handed in my resignation for my current position as a flight dispatcher. I am very excited to announce that I will be starting with another larger airline as a flight dispatcher starting on September 3. I can’t wait to start the 6-week classroom training program for them as I will have the opportunity to do international flights as well as ETOPS (extended-range twin-engine operations or in much simpler terms flights over large bodies of water).

That is all that I have time to update you about now, but I promise that there are many more stories to come. Hope everyone is well and having an awesome day!

Announcing New Changes

Hey friends,

I am just waking up in Edmonton and wanted to share with you a new change that I have made to my blog.

So as most of you know I love to travel, but sometimes it can be hard to keep track of where I am going or when I am able to stop by for a visit. You can now keep track of it here on my travel calendar.

I am still playing with some of the features of it and trying to figure out the best way to add in my work schedule. Let me know what you think and I would love suggestions about ways to make it better.

Have an awesome Tuesday and I challenge you to do something you didn’t plan on doing today!
