Maybe I am over reacting, but I feel like there is a trend that needs to be brought to an end. On my random journeys and travels I have noticed that businesses are commonly leaving the door to the men’s washroom wide open.
If we started doing the same with the women’s washroom, I’m certain that someone would have already created an army to tackle this issue.
My understanding is that women’s washrooms have a second door to provide each stall with additional privacy for users of these tolets. However, he men’s bathroom often doesn’t even have partitions between urinals to protect us guys from any potential prying eyes.
Is there an assumption that men are are only people that would peer into the other genders toilets? Is there a fear that if they close the doors the men’s bathroom will result in inappropriate behaviour behind these closed doors? Can someone please provide some clarification for me about why I am not being allowed to have equal privacy as women when using the washroom?
Last night, I had the pleasure of working my first overnight shift in over two months. Now most people think I’m crazy, but I love working nights.
I am not a morning person at all. In fact, I like to compare myself to an angry dinosaur in the morning. However, having my alarm clock set to go off at 3:30am for the past two months has adjusted my internal clock. After waking up way too early, I spent the rest of my day getting to spend 12 hours at work.
I had an awesome afternoon nap to get my body ready for the long work stretch until 5:00am. It was such an awesome, deep sleep that I woke up feeling totally lost and disorientated. After dragging myself out of bed, I went to the fridge and grabbed some left over pizza for breakfast and threw it in the microwave, only to discover that I had just opened the cupboard. Luckily there wasn’t room and rapidly realized the errors of my way.
It isn’t very often that I do something ridiculous, but this made me laugh pretty hard. Have you ever mindlessly put something in a funny place that it didn’t belong?
Fall has come to a rapid ending yesterday with the first winter storm of the season in Calgary. Luckily, I haven’t had to work since the snow has fallen and have essentially been hiding inside from the frigid -5C (23F). I know there is much worse to come, but for now I’m going to pretend that this is as bad as it is going to get.
This morning has been incredibly relaxing. I couldn’t sleep so I ended up on the couch at 6:00am. I watched the world around me slowly wake up as I sat on the couch sipping my coffee. It has been incredibly peaceful as the television still hasn’t been turned on.
I have been so busy lately that I haven’t has a moment to just stop and relax. This morning has been like a gift to just sit, reflect, and enjoy the wonders of our existence.
Do you have a special routine or activity you like to do to take a break from the business of our lives?
I’m not sure why keeping in touch has become such a challenge lately. I have been struggling to find time and motivation to share my story with you.
This past month has been very busy with training for the same job for a different company as a flight dispatcher, bus driving, and moving. Today was my final day of classroom training, tomorrow is my final written exam, and I start the 300 hours of on the job training prior to writing my desk competency check to get my certificate to dispatch airplanes. I am so happy to not be working Monday to Friday, and I have no idea how anyone manages to work such an awful schedule.
I am also loving the feeling of being behind the wheel of he bus again. On Friday I was supposed to do a charter to banff which was unfortunately cancelled. However, this weekend I did find myself driving a hockey team to Medicine Hat and back for a game which they unfortunately lost.
This upcoming weekend is also thanksgiving in Canada which I will not be celebrating with family as I’m working. However, I am planning on cooking a turkey on Wednesday so we shall see if I manage to set the house on fire or not.
Luckily Mike and I have signed the papers for home insurance so our belongs are now protected against my inexperienced cooking activities.
What are your plans to celebrate the holiday weekend?
